CULTURAL TOURS For daily departure times, click here. To reserve bus tickets for the tours, click here.
EMAILING US IS NOT A GOOD OPTION
Due to the heavy volume of emails we are receiving, we ask you not to send us any emails. Instead, send your messages and requests about the conference to http://www.research.net/s/GermanySp2012Update. This will ensure that your message will be taken care of before the conference.
CHAIRS The Chair's role is to limit a presentation to 15 minutes (unless the absenteeism of other speakers allows otherwise). The chair should draw the speaker's attention when only 5 minutes remain and again when only 1 minute remains. If a chair is not present, the speaker is still requested to end the presentation after 15 minutes.
RECEIPT AND CERTIFICATE
Your certificate and receipt will be available at our desk during the day of your presentation. We do not issue certificates of participation to co-authors who do not register for the conference.
PRESENTATION CONFLICT Simplify your presentation for everyone to understand. Your audience is highly educated and curious but may have never visited your area of research before. In a multidisciplinary conference think of your audience as a highly intelligent group of incoming freshmen who have never read a basic textbook in your area. Your job is to introduce your discipline and research to them. Don't read if you can avoid reading. Get them excited about your area of specialization by simplifying your thoughts and observations. Too many technical terms will kill your presentation if there is no meeting of minds.
Do not juggle your presentation around. However, if you arrive late or have a conflict with your assigned slot, feel free (i.e., no permission needed) to move your presentation to the 16:15-17:15 "open slots" on Monday and 17:00-18:00 on Wednesday.
LOCATION The conference will be held at two locations behind the Gottenheim train station (you may see the railway track at the top of the map below). The two locations, marked in two green balloons are:
(i) The town hall is at the top of the town's firestation - Feuerwehrhaus - at Bahnhofstraße 9 (i.e., 9 Railway Station Street) where the entrance is through a small back door, up a spiral staircase. The front of the firestation consists of big garage doors. IJAS' conference desk is inside this building.
(ii) Gottenheim's school (Grundschule Gottenheim) at Schulstraße 15 (i.e., 15 School Street) a mere 200 meters away. As per School policy, do not photograph the children at the School.

| WHERE TO EAT IN GOTTENHEIM At the conference, on Monday, Gerome's Lounge at the Gottenheim Train Station will provide a free hot (vegetarian) meal as part of its Happy Mondays. The voucher will be available at the IJAS desk.
Haupstrasse (marked in yellow on the above map) means Main Street and cuts through tiny Gottenheim. For the world's best salads or a moderately priced traditional hot meal, go to Gasthaus Krone at 57 Main Street. For sandwiches, coffee and cakes try the Heitzmann Bakery at 7 Main Street or the Bayer Bakery just outside the School (i.e. Balloon B). For a bottle of wine at wholesale prices, try Weingut Hess, the winery at 12 Main Street (just across from City Hall). On Wednesdays at 16:00 it also doubles as a pub serving wholesome dinners.
LODGING If you're still looking for lodging, take a look at our lodging recommendations on our conference website: http://www.internationaljournal.org/germany.html. The daily bus tours will depart from, and return to, Gottenheim and Freiburg. Gottenheim has three guesthouses, Krone, Adler and Obsthof. They are very reasonably priced. Besides, the bus will depart from in front of Gottenheim's train station which is within short distance of all three guesthouses.
IJAS REGISTRATION DESK During the conference, our registration desk will be inside the Feuerwehrhaus at 12 Railway Station Street. If you have any questions about your registration, please show your letter of acceptance at the registration desk. It contains your Research ID number (for about half the delegates it's "SNG" followed by up to three digits).
JOURNAL AND PROCEEDINGS For your research to appear in our Oct-Dec 2012 journal or proceedings, please email your manuscript/abstract to ManuscriptSubmission@gmail.com, formatted according to this template by 30 April 2012.
BIOGRAPHIC NOTE Feel free to hand a 4- to 5-sentence biographic note about yourself to the session chair so that s/he may introduce you to the audience right before your oral presentation.
INTERNET ACCESS There will not be internet access during the conference presentations.
